It’s so real!

about amazing Xr

In the 2020 COVID lockdown Amazing Miss Deb pivoted her business to include remote unicycle coaching (funded by the Darwin City Council) and also to focus on app design and Virtual Reality.

Throughout 2020 Miss Deb self published an App to the Android Play Store and then began research and development with Virtual Reality headsets and their associated software. Miss Deb developed a visionary plan to help benefit youth by using VR to achieve some similar goals as her circus workshops.

Miss Deb is passionate about teaching and guiding youth to become their best selves and wants to develop an app to teach juggling in VR to fully bridge the gap between her two areas of interest (circus and VR), to bring back the active lifestyle for youth in creative, fun and exciting ways and to ignite student’s passion for self-education. Fitness and education are unavoidable side effects in VR and VR is so much fun to boot!

Miss Deb is a pioneer in the “All in one” virtual reality world and was the first in Darwin to get the Oculus Quest 2 on in October 2020. This headset was the first truly affordable “all in one stand alone headset”. This means that for the first time since VR Headsets were created, they became untethered (not connected to a computer) and hence VERY mobile (allowing for physical participation in games and education) AND very affordable. Miss Deb seized the opportunity this new product offered and purchased 6 headsets with intention to deliver programs to youth.

Miss Deb continued her self-study with the aim to deliver VR programs to youth in the NT. Miss Deb’s VR workshops develop independence as well as social skills (VR can be very socially connective – remotely and in person), promote hand/eye coordination and kinaesthetic awareness, educate the participants on a wide range of topics in VR (to contribute to higher education studies) and does all this in a fun and exciting way.

In January 2021 Miss Deb began public VR workshops at Taminmin Library. The workshops were aimed at youth and were a great success, amazing and inspiring all participants as well as parents and library staff who saw the headsets in action (either first hand or on a TV watching what the participants were seeing in the headsets).

VR has an incredible future in both education and fitness (and is super exciting and fun!). Exposing youth to VR while they are at school will bring an awareness of the benefits of VR technology and will inspire youth to take up VR related study and jobs in the future.

i really didn’t know what to expect

i felt amazed!

who is it for?

Virtual Reality is for everyone, no matter what age.
Miss Deb hopes to share her awareness and excitement about the full potential of VR with as many people as possible – from school students, to seniors (for fun and mind and memory stimulation) and business owners (to reach their full potential and stay ahead with technological developments).

sessions

Miss Deb recently delivered a VR workshop at a Seniors meeting at Taminmin Library with approx 18 seniors. Participants were taken all around the world while they sat on a swivel chair in the airconditioned comfort of the library. The Seniors viewed incredible scenery and tourist attractions all around them by watching 360-degree videos in the headsets. Participants said that the VR experience was better than they expected and they wanted more. When asked where they would like to “travel” to next, Miss Deb was astounded to find out the majority of people wanted to see their own back yard (such as Kakadu and Litchfield).
In Feb/March 2022 Amazing Miss Deb (under the banner of her new business “Amazing XR”) delivered the NT’s first co-space VR gaming program, the “Amazing VR Fitness program” at Taminmin College.
This program funded by the Litchfield Council Community grants programs was a huge success and has paved the way for future VR programs and the development of VR E-sports in the Northern Territory.
Amazing XR is supporting Larrikin Interactive to guide a government initiative to develop “The Array [ ]” in the city of Darwin. A bespoke venue for everything tech – for education purposes, fostering local tech creative entrepreneurs, and gaming and E-sports.
